About Hamilton Watches
Hamilton watches are well-known for their reliability and stylish designs. The watches, which are made by the Hamilton Watch Company, a Swiss company, tend to be priced in the $750 – $2,000 range. What interests me the most about Hamilton, is that they started in Lancaster, PA, less than an hour from my house!
Why the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto?
What led me to the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto was my quest to find the perfect automatic, entry-level, every day carry watch, that had something extra. Something that set it apart from the standard Timex Weekenders, the Seiko Divers, the G-Shocks, and Bulovas. It needed to have something unique, that most other entry level watches don’t offer. I believe the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day-Date does exactly that.
The Hamilton Jazzmaster Day/Date Auto is a good watch, especially in the sub-$1000 price range. It looks nice, runs well, and will give you years of service with its high quality Swiss movement (H-40), sapphire crystal, and stainless steel construction. I like the somewhat understated styling, weight and balance of this timepiece, as well as its build quality.
I already own two watches with a chronograph function, so I saw a third as unnecessary. Another chrono was out. My G-Shock is basically unbreakable so that need for an indestructible watch was out. This search was for something that I could wear every day, that would complement a variety of outfits and that would be a slight treat to myself. What drew me to the Hamilton Jazzmaster specifically, was the day-date function. I understand this may not be for everyone, but it is a certain feature that I appreciate. In my opinion this watch can fill multiple roles from an every day carry on metal bracelet, to being dressed up for a night out on a leather band. This may not fit the definition of a true dress watch but I believe it could fill the spot in a pinch. The 40mm case size is perfect for my wrist and the 20mm bracelet is a nice width as well. I love the closure on the bracelet, it is clean and adds a level of depth that typical clasps do not have.
If you’re in the market for a high-quality watch that won’t break the bank, you may want to consider the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto. Hamilton is a brand with a long and storied history of producing reliable and stylish timepieces, and the Jazzmaster Day Date Auto is no exception.
Features of the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto
Design and Aesthetics
The Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto boasts a sleek and modern design that is sure to turn heads. The case size is 40mm, which is a comfortable size for most wrist sizes. The case is made of stainless steel, which provides durability and a high-end look. The dial is available in a variety of colors, including black, silver, and blue. The strap options are leather and stainless steel. There are plenty of aftermarket options available from companies like Barton Bands which allows you to customize the watch to your personal style.
Movement
The Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto is powered by an automatic movement, which means it is self-winding and does not require a battery. The movement has a power reserve of approximately 80 hours, which is more than enough to keep the watch running for several days without needing to be wound. The accuracy of the movement is within -10/+20 seconds per day, which is a respectable range for a watch in this price range. I have found that my watch does lose a minute or two per week.
Day and Date Complication
One of the standout features of the Hamilton Jazzmaster Day Date Auto is the day and date complication. This feature displays the current day and date on the dial of the watch, which is not only a convenient feature but also adds to the overall aesthetic of the watch. The day and date complication is operated by a single crown, which is easy to use and adjust. Pull the crown out one click and it adjusts the day and date, pull the crown out two clicks and you can adjust the time.
