Kutztown Fair 2021

Kutztown Fair 2021

It was sweltering and the drizzle and threat of thunderstorms added insult to injury. I had been looking forward to this for some time. Taking Jess and L to the Kutztown fair. I don’t know how it holds some sort of nostalgia with me. I don’t recall going to many fairs with my parents. Perhaps we did. Morgan, Taylor and Alex stopped over to carpool with us to the fair, saving the environment and shiz ya know.

We took the Pilot. Third row seats come in handy. I sat in the back while L chatted with the girls and Alex about farm animals.

The fair breathes life back into rural part of my soul. It always seems honest, people who work the land bring the best of what they have to offer.

It was a nice night. Parking was easy in the fairgrounds. We were fortunate that the threat of rain only turned out to be a slight drizzle for a minute or so. We got gyros, and of course I got hand cut fries. We stopped at the beer garden for a pitcher that Alex and I split. L wanted to visit the animals so we made our way over to see them.

The cows were up first. L liked their tails “wiggling” and their moos. They had “daddy cows and baby cows”. The pigs were “yucky” and so were the goats. She asked to see the sheep who also turned out to be “yucky”.

Ice cream was necessary to cool down. L ate half of Jess’ cone even though I got a bowl for her and I to share. Of course she wanted mommy’s. We walked around and played some of the games. Jess won a stuffed animal for L at the water blaster game. That made me proud.

We finished the night with funnel cake “happy cake” and a quick stroll through the air conditioned building that housed all of the fair’s blue ribbon winners.

Another great family night in the books, literally.
